I have to say that I have been a HUGE fan of yours since I was a small girl. My mom and I watched a public broadcasting of Les Miserables 10th anniversary edition. I loved it so much that my mom bought the VHS. I was recently able to see Les Miserables live for the first time ever and it just wasn't the same without you to play Valjean. It's not that the other gentlemen haven't been talented it's that you're my first Valjean and in my opinion you're the best. I have also seen the 25th anniversary edition of Phantom and LOVED when all of the Phantoms came out to sing together.

I am BEGGING you to make your way to the midwest and do a show in Kansas City. (I'd also beg to sing with you but I'm sure that's presumptuous- I'm not nearly as good as you are)

Hello. I hope this doesn't seem intrusive, but I wanted to tell you how big a fan I am of yours. I mean, you've been in all my favorite musicals. My name is Emily Buxengaard, and I am twelve years old. I started listening to you when I saw you singing as Valjean in the 10th anniversary edition of Les Miserables. I didn't actually get to see it live, but I have the DVD from when my parents went and I love your rendition of it. I love how you changed the role and shaped it to be what all the future Valjeans base their acting after. And the fact that you were also The Phantom in Phantom of the Opera gave me more respect for you. Phantom of the Opera was my first show in London- and the one that got me hooked on musicals. And then, in addition, you were Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar and Che for the Evita concept album! I also wanted to tell you how your music has helped me. I recently underwent a major spinal surgery, and have been in a lot of pain, but I just turn on one of your songs and it helps me. So, thank you.

We were fortunate to see you in concert in Cardiff last week - our first visit to South Wales. We travelled from the Isle of Harris to see you and it was well worth it!
I first saw you in Les Mis when I was about 20 and after seeing the production several times over, I still feel your voice was the best.
Many thanks for a great night out!

It broke my heart to miss your concert in Edinburgh. I had tickets but tragically lost a relative the week before, and had to go to London instead. I'm sure the concert was phenomenal and I sincerely hope you are up in Scotland again soon so I can hear your mesmerising voice live.

Thank you so much for the great concert tonight at the Bord Gais.
It was all I dreamed of and more!
I wanted to wait for you at the stage door but the guard told me you are meeting friends and family backstage, so it didn't feel right to "loiter".
I hope to see you live on stage again soon and then I will wait afterwards in hope to meet you in person for an authograph and a photo.
Thank you so much again!
Love from the blue haired girl in the front row.

Dear Colm,

I don't know if you read this yourself, or if you have people for that, or if anyone reads it at all, but I'm going to write as if you actually do read it. You were my first Valjean. I bet you hear this all the time, being on the original London cast recording, but it's true, you were my first Valjean, and by today, after watching it live with Gerónimo Rauch, the concert DVDs and the movie, you are still my favourite, (as well as my favourite Bishop, I must say). You originated the role of Valjean, and you're a part of the cast that introduced me to Les Misérables, and I am thankful for that.

Now don't think I'm forgetting your other roles. While Les Mis is no doubt my favourite musical, I have heard you sing as the Phantom and Che, and of course as yourself, and I think you had, and still have, an amazing voice. It's so calm and soothing, yet so impressively strong and good.

I am just a seventeen year old girl from Norway, but I have come to care very much for you, from a fan's perspective. I hope Canada is kind to you, and that you and your family are doing wonderfully. I'm also very happy for you for your tour. I wish I could see you in Dublin or Belfast so badly, but I'm sure you'll be wonderful without me there. I find the name of the tour, "Bring him home," very beautiful. I bet it's one of the most popular songs you do, and it's also the thing… that the tour is literally bringing you home to Ireland, and that really, genuinely moves me. I definitely would have asked my parents to go if I had someone to go with, but the only friends I have that can understand my passion, either live in America, or are completely broke from too many trips to London this summer. We are growing up, and there is so much we want to see and do. But if I could go to one concert, it would be to yours. I very much hope you come back to hold concerts in Europe some other time, because I will not miss another opportunity. I know you are getting old, and that performing probably gets harder. I have so much respect for you for still being as amazing as you are. But I do hope the chance comes again, no matter how much it is to ask for. And should I find someone to travel with, and some more money, before July 10, I would put Heaven and Earth in movement to go.

But what really matters is that you have a wonderful time in your old country, as well as on your concerts in Canada and the US. I know you'll be amazing, and I'm so glad you get the chance to do this; to combine your two countries in one tour. That must be fantastic.

I have never written fan mail before, and I don’t know if you reply, but if you do, let me know how the tour is going. I want you to know that you inspire me. Stay strong, stay great.

Love, Ingvild Oset, an adoring fan.
